WEATHER
CONDITIONS
| Season phenology: |
average
Weather conditions: |
| Ice broke on the river in mid May. Summer was relatively warm and dry, and even hot from 1-20 July, but in the period from 20 July to 10 August weather became more variable: rains alternated with sunny days. No snowfalls recorded during study period. Generally, weather conditions were favourable for breeding of all bird species.

BIOTIC
CONDITIONS
| Rodents abundance evaluation: |
low

Breeding conditions:
Rough-legged Buzzards and Merlins were rare, but they raised young. Skuas were not breeding, but Common and Herring gulls were breeding and common. Nesting densities of nearly all bird species were at an average level. Reproduction of waterfowl could have been adversely affected by disturbance by fishermen, but for passerines, waders and gulls this factor was not that important.
Rodent dynamics:
| Lemmings and Arctic Foxes were not recorded, while Tundra and Narrow-skulled voles were rare.

Rodent species recorded:
| Latin | Abundance |
| Microtus oeconomus | rare |
| Microtus gregalis | common |

Summary
of fauna studies: |
| Data were collected on species composition distribution and numbers of birds in the Pechora River Delta at an area of about 2000 sq.km, with view of making inventory of potential Ramsar wetlands. Survey results will be published after provision of the final report to OMPO (France).
